Exploring Marsaxlokk

The waterfront market is what Marsaxlokk is most famous for. From Monday through Saturday you’ll find a typical market, but on Sundays it transforms into a bustling fish market. Arrive early — the catch sells out fast!

Best Time to Visit

Spring and early summer (April–June) is ideal. The weather is sunny but not too hot, crowds are lighter, and you can swim if you don’t mind cooler waters.
We visited at the beginning of April and the weather was perfect — warm for exploring, cool in the evenings, and not crowded.

Final Thoughts

Marsaxlokk is a village that feels like stepping back in time — fishing boats bobbing in the harbor, locals selling their catch, and quiet streets to wander. It’s a must on any Malta itinerary, and easy to visit as a day trip.
