Giverny, France easy day trip from Paris!

Looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Paris? Well, here is the first installment of my Day Trips from Paris series!

 

 

Bucket List for Giverny, France:

 

First up is the Fondation Monet in Giverny: The Foundation Claude Monet is open every day from April 1st to November 1st, 2023 from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, with the last admission 5:30 pm.

 

At the foundation, you will find his home and THE water garden. Visiting the foundation also gives you access to the Japanese Bridge, Nympheas restaurant and tea room, and two gift shops, as well as all of the gardens.

Best time to visit and holidays:

 

Monet’s garden is incredibly beautiful from April to October. Flowers varieties are blooming one after another so that the garden changes gradually with the seasons while keeping its colors and brightness. The peak period is from May-June, and then Summer.

Free things to do in Giverny, France:

 

  • Giverny is surrounded by incredible walking paths that a free to enjoy! The surrounding hills adorned with wildflowers create the perfect setting for nature walks, rambles, and hikes. Route maps can be collected from the Tourist Boards’ website.

  • Church of Saint-Radegonde – Get a deeper understanding of the local beliefs at this place of worship.

  • VERNON: MAISON DU TEMPS JADIS (House of old times)It is one of the oldest houses in Vernon. This corbelled construction dates back to the XVth century. It has beautiful half-timbered façades.

  • VERNON: THE OLD MILL A symbol of Vernon, the old mill still lies straddling two piers of the ancient bridge over the Seine. It can be easily seen from the Clemenceau bridge or from the Park of the Tourelles Castle.

  • VERNON: TOURELLES CASTLE The Tourelles castle was built during the middle ages and lay at the border of the crown lands and the Duchy of Normandy.
